This post will discuss why Apple laptops are more popular and better than Windows-based laptops. MacBooks have been available for quite some time now, and their popularity can be attributed to their great design, ease of use, and features.
In this article, we will provide 10 reasons why Apple laptops are superior to their competition.
1. The Apple Ecosystem
The Apple ecosystem is a collection of hardware and software designed by Apple, including products such as the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Apple Watch, Mac, iCloud, and Apple Music. The ecosystem allows for seamless use across devices, enabling users to begin a task on one device and continue it effortlessly on another.
This integration is one of the key reasons why MacBooks are superior to other laptops, as other manufacturers have attempted to create similar ecosystems but have not achieved the same level of success. As a result, MacBooks provide a more integrated and seamless experience than competing laptops.
2. Apple Silicon is a Revolution
The M1 and M2 chips by Apple are a revolution in the world of computer SOCs and are outperforming some of the most powerful Windows PC in performance and battery life tests. Also, they are much quieter than their competitors.
It’s hard to find any Windows laptops that would offer you the same performance of Apple Silicon with an amazing battery life in the price range of the M1 Macbook Air for example.
There are not many SOC laptops on the Windows side and when you find one, they are not as power efficient as a Macbook. For instance The M1 MacBook Air M1 SoC performs significantly better than the AMD Ryzen 5 3580U SOC in almost all aspects.
Also in the high end of laptops, it’s hard to find anything that will compete with the M1 Pro or M1 Max plus offer you longer battery life which is one of the main selling point of a Laptop.
3. The Immersive Experience
MacBooks have a superior audio, video, and typing experience compared to their competitors, making them more immersive devices overall. Here’s what I mean::
- The Retina Display boasts a higher pixel density than most Windows laptop screens, resulting in sharper visual display. Only very high-end Windows laptops feature comparable display quality.
- The keyboard uses scissor-switch keys, providing comfortable typing due to the key travel and spacing. This is unlike most Windows laptops, which can be finicky.
- MacBook speakers are superior to the competition and sound much better than almost every non-Apple laptop.
- The new MacBooks come with the reliable Touch ID, which is faster and easier to use than what can be found on other laptops.
4. The Magic Trackpad
The Magic Trackpad is one of the best features of the MacBook. It provides a smooth, responsive tracking experience that is unlike any other laptop on the market.
Apple’s trackpad uses haptic feedback, which means it uses magnets to register clicks instead of buttons beneath its surface. This design makes it the most comfortable and ergonomic trackpad on the market.
The trackpad comes with a wide range of gestures that, when combined with the software, make controlling your laptop super-convenient. For example, you can zoom in or out almost anywhere by pinching with two fingers, or activate Mission Control by swiping up or down with four fingers.
The trackpad is also large and comfortable to use, making navigation quick and easy. Unlike most laptops from other brands, which have smaller trackpads, the focus of the MacBook’s trackpad is on user experience and convenience.
5. The Best Displays
Although there are differences between them, the quality, sharpness, and color accuracy of Apple screens are frequently praised by the design community, and are one of the main reasons to buy a Mac.
The resolution of these screens is always one of the highest on the market, which, combined with their wide color gamut, ensures that the images you work with are incredibly sharp and realistic.
Even with the cheapest Macbook, you are guaranteed to have a quality Retina display, which is not the case with cheap Windows laptops.
In addition, they have screens capable of a very high brightness level , such is the case with Liquid Retina XDR displays on the M14 and 16inch Macbook Pro. They are almost like a reference monitor.
Trying to find any Windows Laptop with the same display quality will set you back a couple of thousands of dollars if you’re lucky to find it in the first place.
6. MacOS and Apps
One of the biggest selling points of MacBooks is their operating system. Apple laptops come with macOS, a highly stable and user-friendly platform designed specifically for Apple computers.
Many people find macOS a more user-friendly operating system than Windows. This is due to its intuitive interface, simplified menus, and seamless integration with Apple products. Additionally, macOS boasts a wide range of built-in productivity tools, such as Pages, Keynote, and Numbers, which allow users to create professional documents, presentations, and spreadsheets with ease.
Furthermore, macOS is known for its robust security features, which protect users from malware and phishing attempts. It is also a great option for creative professionals, as it comes preloaded with software such as iMovie, GarageBand, and Photos, which allow users to edit videos, create music, and manage their photo collections with ease.
Mac OS features impressive animations and design elements that distinguish it from Windows.
Unlike some OEMs, who may load their laptops with bloatware depending on location or other factors, Apple products provide a clean OS experience right out of the box. This ensures a consistent user experience without any negative impact.
7. Security
Many people believe that Macs cannot get computer viruses, but this is a common misconception. In reality, viruses can affect both macOS and iOS systems. Unfortunately, this false sense of security has led many Mac users to neglect security measures, resulting in infected computers.
Despite this, security is still a compelling reason to buy a Mac. The truth is that there is less chance of a Mac getting infected compared to a PC. While Macs are popular, the majority of users worldwide use PCs. This makes it more attractive or profitable for virus developers to create malware for PCs rather than Macs. As a result, Macs are less likely to get infected.
Additionally, Apple provides more security features, such as the T2 chip, which encrypts the SSD for your protection.
8. Quality and Durability
Not only do Apple laptops come packed with industry-leading hardware, but they are also high-quality and durable. With regular, moderate care, a Mac can easily last you six years or more. All you need to do is learn how to properly take care of your Mac, as explained in this guide.
When it comes to laptops, MacBooks stand out from the crowd. Not only do they have an impressive aluminum unibody design, but they are also extremely durable and resistant to wear and tear. MacBooks are built to last, and this is reflected in their high-quality construction. You can rest assured that your MacBook will hold up well over time, even if you use it frequently.
In addition to their durability, MacBooks come with a one-year warranty from Apple. This provides peace of mind for users who worry about their laptop breaking down unexpectedly. And if anything does go wrong, it is easy to book a repair at your nearest Apple Store. Apple’s customer service is second to none, and they are always on hand to help you with any issues you may encounter.
Overall, while many laptops on the market are capable devices, MacBooks rise above the rest in terms of durability and customer support. If you’re looking for a laptop that will stand the test of time and provide you with a worry-free computing experience, a MacBook is an excellent choice.
9. Longevity and Resale Value
One of the best things about MacBooks is their longevity and value retention. While many laptops can last several years or more, MacBooks stand out as the only laptops that remain stylish and hold a good price on the second-hand market.
As time goes on, apps become larger and computers slow down. However, Apple is known for continually supporting old devices with new software updates, making them one of the best companies for this. This not only keeps you secure against the latest online threats, but it also ensures that you can get new features on your Mac as it ages.
Perhaps this longevity is why MacBooks retain their value so well. You can typically sell a three-year-old MacBook for around 50% of its original price, while a three-year-old Windows laptop will fetch only about 25% of its original value if you’re lucky.
10. Ease of Purchase
There are a few reasons why purchasing a MacBook may be a better option compared to other brands.
Firstly, the MacBook product line is limited to only two models, the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, each with its own specific target market. This approach simplifies the purchasing process for the consumer by narrowing down the list of options. In contrast, other brands, such as HP, offer multiple variations of the same laptop, each with its own unique and sometimes confusing name, which can create a more overwhelming shopping experience.
Secondly, Apple’s online store is well-organized and user-friendly, making it easy to find and purchase the MacBook that best suits your needs. Additionally, Apple has retail stores all around the world that are staffed with knowledgeable employees who can help guide you through the purchasing process.
This provides an added level of customer support that other laptop manufacturers may not be able to match. In contrast, some other laptop manufacturers’ websites can be difficult to navigate, and their retail locations can be cluttered and overwhelming.
Overall, purchasing a MacBook may be a better option for those who seek simplicity in their purchasing experience, as well as access to well-informed customer support staff..
Verdict
In conclusion, I would say that if you are looking for a fast, no-stress user experience on a robust, power efficient laptop that runs a reliable OS like Mac OS then get a MacBook.
I would highly recommend you get the Apple Silicon MacBooks even if the low prices of Intel Macbooks can be tempting, simply because Apple fixed most issues like the butterfly keyboards and overheating in the new Macbooks. So they will last you longer and will get more OS updates.
